This position is responsible for the review and implementation of current and future regulatory requirements and legislation relating to all product compliance activities in Southeast countries. This position will assist in assurance that the company and all products remain in compliance with local, regional and international regulations. It will assist the regional management of Corporate Regulatory affairs with policy decisions and implementation.
- Track and Manage existing and emerging regulations
- Monitoring National Chemical Inventory Regulation in Vietnam.
- Stay up to date with other emerging chemical regulations applying to product compliance
- Nominate the new resins/chemicals in SW product into coming National chemical inventory list in Vietnam. Analyze impact of regulations changes on processes and policies.
- Manage regulation changes and provide support during the development of compliance strategies for upcoming and/or changing regulations (ex, GHS) as they are related to SW and our products
- Communicate regulation changes to local stakeholders.
- Support regional management in the development regulatory strategies and solutions that achieve first class regulatory performance, global compliance and aim at global and regional harmonization with long term benefits for Sherwin-Williams. Implement regulatory compliance processes, driving consistency and efficiency across Sherwin-Williams businesses in Southeast Asia region, particularly in Vietnam.
- Be responsible for new chemical and polymer registration, notification and regulatory reporting activities.
- Identify, build relationships with, and partner with external regulatory consultants, government agencies and other resources to develop depth and breadth of the subject matter expertise.
- Provide regulatory training and information to the impacted business and organizations.
- Coordinate customer requests with global RA/GPS team. Responds to the requests using standardized letter if required.
- Support and/ or actively participate in regional advocacy work including direct communications with Industry associations and consortiums as necessary to advance SW position.
- Support corporate and regional hazard Communication and labeling subject expertise by specifying and reviewing the health and safety information related to labeling of products for compliance with domestic and international regulations.
- Support and/or actively participate in raw material vendor regulatory compliance communication process in region.
- Project Support: Support the implementation of global regulatory affairs projects in region
- Regions Supported: Core responsibility Vietnam, Thailand, and other Southeast country

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor degree in chemistry, toxicology, polymer science or related field
- 5+ years of experience with regulatory affairs / compliance related work in the chemical or pharmaceutical industry, preferably within the coatings industry.
- Knowledge of chemical control laws in AP region including GHS requirements.
- Knowledge of regulations on Transport of Dangerous Goods (Classification, Labelling, Packaging requirements) (Ex IMDG, ICAO)
- Knowledge of chemical and product related restrictions for import/export and product sales in Southeast Countries.
- Experience in authoring Safety Data Sheet.
TECHNICAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to work with and respond to all levels of management, peers, laboratories, manufacturing, regulatory agencies, industry groups, and any other internal and external customers.
- Strong problem solving / decision making skills, with the ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Strong communication skills, agility and firmness supporting the role as a facilitator with all departments of local business and industry groups.
- Skills to negotiate and build a strong professional network with government entities, class associations and external study groups.
- Fluent in English.
